9mobile honors World Book Day, provides Books to Lagos Library


The World Book Day is a day put sideways to support everybody, mainly youthful people, to realize the joy of reading. In this brightness, the telecom company has joined with Lagos State Government to support literacy and make a fit comprehension culture amongst the youth in the state.

During the trip to the state-owned library at Isolo, 9mobile pleased students, teachers, and officials of the library, with contributions of books by well-known authors, as well as Chinua Achebe, Cyprian Ekwensi, Mabel Segun, and Jowhor Ile – winner of the 9mobile Prize for Literature 2016.

Acting Director, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, 9mobile, Oluseyi Osunsedo , talking at the donation of the books to Lagos State Library Board, said the profits of book reading on national development are huge, noting that the telecom is promoting a reading society to sustain knowledge acquisition and maintenance in Nigeria, particularly among the youth.

Osunsedo further said that, “Education is the energy that enables the youth to add importance to their family, society, and country. By reading books, the youth are being educated, and are opening their minds to study, expand and produce. This is why we chose to contribute books to mark the World Book Day.

We have also gone a step more to set up a reading club at the Isolo Public Library, and this means we will carry on to offer more books and guarantee that the students and youth maintain to develop themselves and make themselves priceless to our society.

Assistant Director, Lagos State Library Board, Asimiyu Oyadipe, Commenting while receiving the books highly praised 9mobile for the gesture and said the support was in line with government’s efforts towards the upgrading of a reading culture amongst the youths.

The winner and the two runners-up also partake in a multi-city book trip of three African countries also sponsored by 9mobile, while the telecom gets 1,000 copies of their books for giving out to schools, libraries and book clubs across Africa.

APC TWITTER HANDLE HIJACKED

An unpaid assistant managing a Twitter account connected with the All Progressives Congress (APC) has illegally seized the handle. The APC Twitter account has become the spotlight of the so-called imposture of distributing fake information about the party on the social networking site. Publicity of APC, Edegbe Odemwingie says in an executive speech that a certain Philip Obin, who was cited as one of the frequent youth volunteers for our party during the 2015 elections, supposedly have power over the Twitter handle. APC claims that efforts have been made to have Obin let go the said Twitter handlle to the party, but efforts made has failed to yield result. According to APC, giving this newest event, the party has no option than to take other lawful actions to pin down Obin from embarrassing the party. The general public is yet reminded that the Twitter handle @APCNigeria is not a Twitter handle of the All Progressives Congress.
