PARADIGM INITIATIVE GIVES OUT COMPUTERS TO SCHOOLS







Paradigm Initiative gives out forty seven computer sets to eight secondary schools that have demonstrated interest in practical digital skills training across Nigeria.

The beneficiaries include El-Leonora College, Umbrella High School and Soland Int’l School, all based in Ajegunle, Lagos State. Others are Al-fijr International School, Zaifat Secondary School, ECWA Aro Restoration School and Hameedah Secondary School, all based in Kano State. New World Secondary School, Aba, Abia State also get some of the computers.

Paradigm Initiative has over the years made a name for itself as a head in digital inclusion labors in the country and the giving of computer systems to schools is part of the organization’s plan.

Paradigm Initiative’s Digital Inclusion Program Manager, Tosin Abolaji, says that we just scaled our digital inclusion programme to schools and one of the things we find out is the shortage of computer systems for the training. We are in the course of identifying more schools that would gain from this program.

The organization is keen to civilizing livelihoods of young people by providing them with ICT-enabled support system and the contribution of the computers furthers the goal of the organization.

APC TWITTER HANDLE HIJACKED

An unpaid assistant managing a Twitter account connected with the All Progressives Congress (APC) has illegally seized the handle. The APC Twitter account has become the spotlight of the so-called imposture of distributing fake information about the party on the social networking site. Publicity of APC, Edegbe Odemwingie says in an executive speech that a certain Philip Obin, who was cited as one of the frequent youth volunteers for our party during the 2015 elections, supposedly have power over the Twitter handle. APC claims that efforts have been made to have Obin let go the said Twitter handlle to the party, but efforts made has failed to yield result. According to APC, giving this newest event, the party has no option than to take other lawful actions to pin down Obin from embarrassing the party. The general public is yet reminded that the Twitter handle @APCNigeria is not a Twitter handle of the All Progressives Congress.

FACEBOOK PROPEL CHAT APP FOR CHILDREN

Facebook on Monday unveiled a version of its Messenger application for children, aimed at enabling kids under 12 to connect with others under parental supervision. Messenger Kids is being rolled out for Apple iOS mobile devices in the United States on a test basis as a stand-alone video chat and messaging app.  Loren Cheng , product manager said the social network leader is offering Messenger Kids because there is a need for a messaging app that lets kids connect with people they love but also has the level of parents control. Facebook said that the new app, with no adverts or in-app purchases, is aimed at 6- to 12-year-olds. It enables parents to control the contact list and does not allow children to connect with anyone their parent does not approve.
